Membership of Brackenwood Golf Club, brings many benefits:
There are handicap competitions every week at Brackenwood from March to October.
Between May and August there is a team match (Home & Away) against all the other municipal club. While one obviously likes to win their matches it is also very much a social event that helps to build camaraderie with the members of the other clubs. After the matches we all sit around have some food and a few drinks.
The club has two official golf outings. The Stag Outing (Friday to Sunday) the venue of which is chosen by the Captain. In the past we have been to Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man. The Summer Outing which unusually is arranged in September is a day out on a Sunday to a private golf course with dinner afterwards
There are other unofficial outings arranged by specific members who are generally carrying on a long standing tradition. These can be in the UK (weekend) but are usually in Spain, Portugal or Turkey.(5 or 7 days)
We have active Sections for Ladies and Seniors all with their own Competition schedule and Social events to help your integration within the club. The club is in the process of integrating all current sections into one single club membership.This will take time but hopefully there will be greater interaction leading eventually to an increase in Mixed Competitions. In the more immediate future it is hoped to see more integrated social events.
As a member of the club your immediate family are automatically social members and are very welcome to attend our social events. These are on a Friday evening and can range from a dinner, a Quiz, a Race Night or just a celebration party. Our Xmas Grotto is almost famous and if you know any little children they will be enthralled.
If any member or their friends have a birthday, Wedding Anniversary, Christening or even a Wake the club is available to hire at a very nominal cost. The Secretary will be delighted to provide you with all the details.
